Since 1 June 2024, Dr. Weigert has been using reconditioned drums, which are prepared for us in a validated cleaning and inspection process. It started with the liquid detergent for dishwashers neodisher Alka 220, and since 2025 neodisher Alka 240 and neodisher Alka 280 have also been supplied in reconditioned drums (also liquid detergents for dishwashers). There are currently 860 of these environmentally friendly containers in circulation.
A single drum made of HDPE weighs 8.58 kg - a lot of plastic that is saved by using reconditioned drums. This reduces CO2 emissions by an impressive 97.3 %. Dr. Weigerts long-term goal is to further reduce CO2 emissions. The number of reconditioned drums is to be doubled to around 2,500 per year. This could save up to 39 tonnes of CO2 and 21,450 kg of HDPE per year - a significant step towards the sustainable use of resources.
